The Naples High Band Program is Proud to Celebrate
the Class of 2020 with a Virtual Grad Walk!
Today we extend our best wishes to Kalee Samson, our Drum Major. Kalee plans to attend USF with a major in Psychology. Jazz band her freshman year is her favorite memory and she reminds us that “It’s not just about the music, it’s about the people playing the music.” Right on, Kalee! Congratulations. #nhsband #classof2020
Congratulations to Andrew Baumgardner, our Drum Major. Andrew will be attending the University of Alabama in Huntsville for Aerospace Engineering and believes in the “Make It Work” philosophy. Warm wishes for a bright future, Andrew! You deserve it.
Congratulations to Britney Castillo, a member of the color guard who will be attending college and majoring in Psychology. She’d love to work in Criminal Justice someday. She steps into the next phase of her life saying “I’m off to make interesting mistakes, amazing mistakes, and fantastic mistakes.” She’s inspired to leave the world more interesting for being here. Best wishes, Britney!
Meet Abigail Henning, a member of our front ensemble who will be attending the College for Hospitality. Her favorite band moments are winning districts 🙌 and any CiCi Pizza night. Her favorite quote “If you aren’t in over your head, how do you know how tall you are?” by T.S. Elliot encourages her to rise to life’s challenges. Her inspirational wish for everyone to be happy and who they are resonates with us all! Congratulations and well done, Abigail!
Best wishes to Elijah Bickford, one of our trombone and low brass band members. Eli will be attending Florida International University where he will major in Criminal Justice (and join the FIU Marching Band!) He plans to work for the government in counterfeit money and documentation someday. Way to dream big, Eli! You’ve got this.
Meet Amanda Fuenzalida, our Color Guard Captain, who will be attending Davidson College and majoring in Biology. Amanda inspires us with her final thought, “You must not let anyone define your limits because of where you come from. Your only limit is your soul.” Wow. May you achieve your dreams, Amanda!
Congratulations to Aaron Martinez, a clarinet player who will be attending Florida Gulf Coast University. Aaron fondly recalls the moment he realized clarinet flipping doesn’t work as well as bottle flipping. 😁 Good times, Aaron!
Congratulations to Isaiah Alzume, Trombone Section Leader, who fondly remembers performing “Wanted” in St. Petersburg. Isaiah looks forward to studying Film & Motion Picture Production at the University of Miami. He is inspired by Theodore Roosevelt who said, “Believe you can, and you’re halfway there.” We couldn’t agree more! Go and be amazing.
Introducing Emily Skula, a color guard member who will be attending Florida Atlantic University. In the wise words of that 70’s show, “what a long strange trip it’s been…” Emily wishes everyone safely and successfully prospers through these troubling times and believes that with the joining of people worldwide, we can all come out of this as one. We couldn’t agree more, Emily! Congratulations!
Congrats to Kyle Hovland, a trumpet player who plans to attend an in-state college. He is grateful for the friendships he has made over the past four years and looks to better himself as he goes out into the world. Kyle shares Mr. Grieb’s wisdom, “Make good choices.” Best wishes for a great future, Kyle.
Congratulations to Lacee-Jo Cottage, a color guard member who looks forward to attending technical college. She encourages everyone to stay strong and hopes for future happiness for all. Stay sweet, Lacee-Jo! 🙌
Congrats to Sophie Hautmann, a flute player who plans to attend college and embrace opportunities as they present themselves. She is inspired by Maya Angelou’s quote, “My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.” May your life be an adventure, Sophie! 👍
Meet Marcus McMullin, a member of the drumline who plans to enlist in the Marine Corps to become an Air Traffic Controller. Marcus cherishes the memories of traveling to events and will miss the drumline family. He reminds us, “Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards.” by Soren Kierkegaard. Thank you for your future service, Marcus! Congratulations.
Congratulations to Lydia Cartwright, one of our flute players. Lydia will be attending Penn State University and plans to live a long and happy life with her family and friends. Her favorite memory was freezing at the Chic-fil-A Bowl where her flute literally froze to her face.😲 We remember that moment too, Lydia! Best wishes.
Meet Nicholas Ramirez, a trumpet player who plans to attend FSW while working at Alexander’s. His favorite memory was the trip to Washington, D.C. He hopes that this unexpected ending to our senior year, not be what we remember most. That we remember all the good times we had and know that this is the best time for a new beginning. Very well said, Nicholas! Best wishes to you.
Congrats to Silvana Velasquez, a color guard member who will attend Nova Southeastern University and major in criminal justice. Her favorite memory is of the Disneyland trip. She reminds us that “Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” 👏👏
Best wishes to Nicolo Rubino, a trumpet/high brass player who plans to attend the University of Tampa majoring in Business. He most remembers always being “on time” for Mr. Grieb. Congrats, Nicolo!
Senior Graduate Alert! 🎓 Meet Yessica Rodriguez, a Colorguard member, and future pediatrician. Yessica’s fondest memory is of the Disney trip last year and hopes her life is filled with lots of love and happiness. Best wishes, Yessica!
